Workout Motivation

Workout Motivation

When it's snowing outside and you're warm and cosy indoors, the last thing you want to do is go to the gym. Believe me, I know. Staying motivated to keep active during the winter months is one of the toughest things. You know in your mind you want to keep going so you feel great during summer, but it takes effort. Here are some things I think about to motivate me:

Feeling great when you make it to the gym. Before you even begin exercising you feel proud you've made it this far. It was tough, but you did it!

Feeling great once you've completed your workout. That happy, proud feeling you get knowing you've just bettered yourself mentally and physically!

Cute workout clothes. I admit, I may have a small addiction to buying gym clothes, but it keeps me motivated to go, as I want to show off my new outfit. My favourite brand of active-wear is USA Pro. They have so many different styles and colours to suit everyone and are constantly coming out with new designs!

How great you'll feel in summer. If you've kept active through the winter, when it comes to bikini season you'll be ready. They say summer bodies are made in winter, don't they? By going to the gym, or yoga or spin during the colder months, your confidence will grow, and you'll be proud to style new summer outfits you may not usually!

Try challenges or celebrity workouts. Make your gym sessions interesting by looking up fun challenges like 30-day abs. This keeps you motivated to do your daily workout, meaning you don't get bored always doing the same routine! A great place to find these challenges is Pinterest. You can choose from varying difficulties and time frames! I also love to try out celebrity workout routines. This is tough and requires a lot of commitment but is really rewarding. I tried exercising like Demi Lovato for a week and it made me really want to go to the gym every day! It's all about keeping it interesting.

Create a habit from your routine. It takes 66 days to make a routine into a habit. If you stick with it this long, you'll find it so much easier to continuously stay active.

Listen to a motivating Playlist. The best way to keep on going with a tough workout is a playlist that makes you feel motivated. Create your own workout playlist and see the difference it makes to your gym session. It also motivates you to get to the gym to start your routine and your favourite songs!

Yes, it's hard to leave your warm home. Or stop at the gym after a long day at work or school. But consider some of these ideas and once you feel that motivation- go for it!
